IHP+ details

Mali joined IHP+ in 2009. There is a ten year health and social development plan (PDDSS), which is divided into two five year plans (PRODESS). The Ministry of Health is preparing a new five year PRODESS and used the JANS tool in 2011 in the development process. It is developing a roadmap for strengthening M&E based on an assessment of the current M&E platform. The country compact was signed by the Ministry of Health and eighteen development partners in 2009. Since then, Mali has supported several other countries in compact development. Mali has received a country grant in support of harmonization processes at the country level. A review of aid effectiveness and results was done in 2011. The Mali Health Organizing Project / Association Sigida Kenyali received a grant from the Health Policy Action Fund in 2012. Mali has participated in both the 2nd and 3rd round of IHP+ Results monitoring.

World Bank*

Country Assistance Strategy 2008-2011- CAS has two strategic objectives: promote rapid and broad-based growth and strengthen public sector performance for service delivery.

European Commission*

The Country Strategy Paper for Mali (2008-2013) sets out the strategic framework for the co-operation of the European Commission (EC) with Mali under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF). The three main thematic areas of assistance are governance economic development in the Northern regions and the Niger delta and general budget support. EC support will contribute to consolidating the decentralisation of government services and to devising and implementing a migration policy. The EC-funded activities will also help to develop road transport and infrastructure as well as to improve other basic infrastructure (water sanitation and energy) and to open-up targeted regions. Furthermore the aim is to develop the Office du Niger zone (increase production and agricultural productivity and create jobs) and to encourage regional economic development.
